Sixty-six students athletes from Massey High School in New Zealand recently spent three weeks touring The United States of America and Canada. The purpose of their tour was sporting, educational and cultural with a great emphasis placed on the opportunity to make new life long friends. Representing the school were the boys and girls hockey and badminton teams as well as the girls netball and boys rugby teams. They visited San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Miami, San Diego and Los Angeles playing games every three days. There were opportunities to visit famous sites such as: Alcatraz, Stanley Park, Niagara Falls, The Florida Everglades, Manhattan Island, San Diegos Sea World, Disneyland and Universal Studios which proved to be the most memorable.

The Florida section of the tour was handled by 4 Tors Inc, a sports management firm located in the Aventura area. Games for the Rugby and Netball teams were played at the brand new Central Broward Regional Park, while the Field Hockey teams were hosted by the Aventura FH club. All games were very competitive with the Florida Select Rugby squad giving the boys from Massey a good run for their money before eventually going down 23-0. The girls U-19 netball squad won both their games against their Florida counterparts by a margin of 7 points in the 1st game and with a come from behind 1 point victory in the final friendly. The field hockey teams won both their matches against the Aventura Field Hockey club by scores of 8-6 and 2-1.

Whilst in Florida, the team visited the Florida Everglades national park as well as the world famous South Beach.
